What started as a challenge from a friend has led to an eye opening and life changing experience. In 2019, I rode in my first ever RIDE TO REMEMBER (Ride to End ALZ), was not planning to ride in memory of the person that I choose to honor, but our Heavenly Father needed another rose for his garden. I rode in memory of Mrs. Joanne Knight and I am so glad that I did! As I said in the previous years, I was fortunate that my mother only had the beginnings of dementia before she passed away. But watching a dear friend watch her incredible mother pass away from complications due to Alzheimer's will forever be in my memory. So, I ride for the caregivers too, these individuals endure so much heart ache but carry on for their love for the family member with Alzheimer's. I am honored to ride in her memory and now my cousin that has been pre diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. The number continues to increase, and it includes influential people in my life, that were diagnosed and lived with Alzheimer's. I am looking forward, God's will, to ride in the 2024 'Ride to End ALZ, for numerous reasons! Just a thought, did you know that more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease, and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. This number does not include the caregivers and family members that are impacted. Now is the time to come together to change the course of this disease!
