This July, for the 7th time I’ll be riding my road bike 255 miles across South Carolina, participating in Ride to End ALZ, raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.
Ride to End ALZ is a unique point to point ride. We’ll start from Simpsonville and ride to Newberry on day one (65 miles), then we’ll ride to Orangeburg on day two (90 miles), and finally down into the low country, through Charleston, over the Ravenel Bridge in Mt. Pleasant on day three (100 miles).
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Additionally, more than 16 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimer’s or other dementias.
As part of the ride, I have committed to raising donations, on top of the expenses I’ll incur in registration, hotels, etc. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to provide care support for all affected and advance research toward better treatments, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. My team from Think Tank Brew Labs/David Moore Foundation has set our goal for $100,000 this year, and the ride hopes to raise a record $1,500,000 in total. Last year, 350 of us raised $1.3 million and to date A Ride to End ALZ - South Carolina has raised more than $6 million for the Alzheimer’s Association. This will be the 16th annual ride.
Riding 255 miles over 3 days in the July heat is no easy task, but every mile ridden and every dollar raised is a step towards a world without Alzheimer’s.
Thanks in advance for your donation!
Cheer Me On!
