My exposure to Alzheimer's Disease came when I was in fifth grade.
My mother was driving me to a YMCA basketball game on a cold winter morning. We witnessed an elderly woman stumble and fall on the back roads in our town.
We stopped to assist; I helped her up. The woman was confused, didn't know her name or where she lived.
We found her address in her purse, drove her home. There, we called her daughter and waited until the daughter arrived to take over.
The daughter explained her mom had Alzheimer's.
I missed my game, but did the right thing.
Alzheimer's is an insidious disease.
