Why I Ride: I rode last year in honor of my stepmother's dad, Wally, who passed away from Alzheimer's a few years ago. This year's ride hits a little closer to home for me as I am riding in honor of my Grandpa Tom.
My Grandpa Tom was diagnosed with Parkinson's a few years ago. His Parkinson's has now resulted in him being diagnosed with rapid Dementia and Alzheimer's disease. A few weeks after Christmas of 2023, my Grandpa has now been moved into a permanent memory care facility.
My Grandpa Tom is one of the most active, courageous, wonderful people I know. He would take me on motorcycle rides when I was younger and let me have cake for breakfast! My Grandpa also used to ride his bicycle to his favorite coffee shop every morning, more than five miles each way.
After attending my first Ride to End ALZ last year (and having a blast!) I thought what better way to honor my Grandpa this year. I appreciate everyone's support and donations as we try to find a cure to this horrendous disease.
Cheer Me On!
