Why I Ride: I'm riding for my dad, Roger Guzek who suffers from Dementia and continues to decline. He may not remember your name but will smile just the same. The disease has robbed him of his independence, memories and quality of life. He is dependent on us his children to care for him. It's been rough but I am so proud of my siblings in how we've pulled together to care for him. During the weekday my niece Maureen Barthel, is with him getting him out and about. She organizes a monthly calendar to ensure coverage... and is truly a blessing! Currently my dad is on 2 waitlists for Assisted Living, we continue to pray something comes available soon.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer's research -- only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. Please donate and help me reach my goal. This Saturday Oct 14th I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ, a fully-supported, premier cycling event that supports the Alzheimer's Association's efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's disease and Dementia.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research towards future survivors of Alzheimer's. Thank you for your support!
Cheer Me On!
