- Why I Ride:
I ride for my Grandma Bev. My Grandma Bev suffered with Alzheimers for several years. Little by little Alzheimers took my grandma from my family and I. As I watched my grandma turn into someone who I didn’t recognize, more like someone who didn't recognize me, I felt helpless. Having to watch her slowly have her mind and memories stolen from her and know there was nothing I could do about it was devastating. The Ride to End ALZ made me feel like I could do something to help. A few months after my grandma passed I found the Ride to End ALZ. The Ride to End ALZ is a cycling event where riders raise money to support groundbreaking research towards ending Alzheimers. I am determined to go the distance for all those affected by Alzheimer’s. I am inspired by the strength of the more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, and the over 11 million family members and friends who provide them with care. On October 14th, I am riding 50 miles in honor of my Grandma Bev. Riding and raising money for this cause makes me feel so happy. I am so excited that I get to be a part of doing something so big, that significantly can help to get more breakthroughs with Alzheimer's research. Although I didn’t find it at a time that I could tell her all about it, I know my grandma would be proud of me doing what I can to help find a cure. With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
