YES, I Loved my Mom, and I love my bike.
Alzheimer’s hit her in her late 70's and in 2021 her heart gave out quietly one morning, before all her memory was gone. She always knew me, sometimes she knew other family members, but not always. She still had an amazing sense of humor and a helpful kind character. Not long before we lost her, I had visited, and we played a long game of War. She always knew what card was highest but couldn't always remember what do with the two cards when she won. I'll never forget that last lovely afternoon, it brings tears to my eyes, even now.
So with my bike, I’ll join the Colorado Ride to End Alz -- I am determined to go the distance for all those affected by Alzheimer’s. I am inspired by the strength Mom (Marylou) and the millions of those living with this disease, and their family members and friends who provide them with care. I personally know the pain.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Thank you for cheering me on, in memory of my mother, Marylou, and join me in the hope that we will continue to move research further to put this painful disease behind us all.
Cheer Me On!
