Why I Ride:
The 10th anniversary of my mother’s passing is rapidly approaching. Alice Toby Barbanel was kind, generous and loving. I never heard my mother speak gossip of other people. I only witnessed her angry three times in my life. Considering she and my dad raised three boys that was impressive.
She inspired me to seek the truth and help people. Her first career was as a knitwear designer. Then a full time mother. When I was in high school, she went to college and ultimately earned her MSW.
She survived several bouts of cancer only to succumb to Dementia. I took her to the Neurologist and received the painful news that she suffered from Dementia. Watching her lose her memory over the next two and half years was heart breaking.
This is my second year riding in her memory. I am riding to raise money to end ALZ and Dementia.
