Why I Ride: Iam determined to ride for my wife and family. As many of you know, my wife, Beth, was diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia in 2015 and lived a home until December of 2019 when I could not care for her any longer. Beth continues to live in the same long term care facility. She continues to get weaker. She is not able to walk on her own and is in a wheelchair for mobility. Both of my in-laws, my sister in-law's father and an aunt of mine passed away from this awful disease. I have also had several friends whose family members have passed away.
This past year I was certified as a support group facilitator by the Alzheimer's association. I am currently a co-facilitator for a group that I have been involved with for 6 years. Over the past couple of years, I have helped friends walk through the completed maze of what to do for their loved one. I want to help because I did not have someone help me with what to do.
I am riding for a cure on June 9, 2024, in Fort Collins Colorado to raise money for research and a future. I do not want to see my girls, or your children or grandchildren have to suffer this awful disease. My goal will be to ride 65 miles that day for this cause is close to my heart.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated!
