Why I Ride: When I go through my old text messages from my Dad, I see evidence of the vital, engaging, entertaining, and wonderful man and father that he was before that was slowly taken away by Alzheimer's. I see his love of biking in many of those texts. Sadly, I didn't see the signs of the slippage until it was too late, and I didn't make time to share that with him.
I ride because I want a future where no one has to endure that loss - him, me, our family, his friends. I am also not ashamed to say, selfishly, that I ride because his past could be my future.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ®, a fully-supported, premier cycling event that supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
