Why I Ride: After a long and sad decline mom passed away this February. Her struggle with Alzheimer's lasted over 8 years and took her from a vibrant and vital person who loved and cared for everyone around her to one who was completely dependent on others to attend to every aspect of her being. The transition was initially terrifying for her, but as the disease progressed, she lost even that sense of anxiety as she became less and less aware of who, or where, she was. We however, never lost that fear, anxiety, and sadness. There were a few precious moments, even at the end, that the veil would lift, and we could see, if even for just a few seconds, that she was still with us.
It is time to find a cure for this disease, so that no one else ever needs to travel this road again - that is why I ride, and why I am asking you to help fund the research necessary to do just that.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ®, a fully-supported, premier cycling event that supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
