The 4th annual November (December) to Remember Half Marathon is returning and will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024 beginning at 6:30 a.m. The run begins and ends at Minuti Coffee located at 1275 Eldridge Parkway, Houston, TX 77077.
A Little Background:
Back in December of 2020, many of us had registered for a half marathon trail run and like everything else, the event was canceled due to COVID. We were "all dressed up with no place to run" when we decided it was time to take matters into our own hands. So, we organized our own half marathon and called it December to Remember. It took place from a local coffee shop in the Energy Corridor and traveled 13.1 miles throughout Terry Hershey Park to finish back at the coffee shop. Wearing our masks at our post run party, we proudly went home feeling a giant sense of accomplishment - we were exercising with others and beating COVID.
In December of 2021, we ran the re-scheduled trail half marathon that was originally cancelled and after a very long 13.9 mile half marathon course along with a rude race director, it became apparent we should just have our own run. In December 2022, we brought back the December to Remember Half Marathon and had 45 great friends participate and lots of fun (although the rain, mist and humidity wasn't needed).
Last year, we have nearly 40 runners and walkers, raised nearly $4,000 for Alzheimer's research, provided snacks, drinks, cook-to-order breakfast tacos, refreshments and much more to celebrate at our post-run party.
Well, it is time to do it again...
In keeping with tradition, THERE IS NO COST TO REGISTER! I will subsidize all of the costs to host this event (snacks, drinks, chef cooking breakfast taco's, margarita's and more) and all I ask is that you please make a donation to my Alzheimer's fundraising page.
Including my dad (Harry Cohen) and sister (Leslee Gollins), so many of you too have lost loved ones and been directly impacted by this horrible disease. Sadly, the number of people impacted are projected to rise significantly in the years ahead. By you participating and making a generous donation (100% of your donations will go direct to Alzheimer's research), you will truly make a direct impact! It is my honor to host this run and I sincerely thank you for your generosity and support. Stay tuned for a great event!
