Why We Ride: Life’s a gift of song. The melody comprised of layers of experiences, places, and the cherished people we meet along the way.
When pieces of those memories start to feel forgotten, such as what happens to those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, it’s up to us as their community, to remind, support, and lift them up so they know they are not alone in this battle.
Beloved members of our families are battling this disease. For example, one who gave us the gift of learning how to listen, read, and soak in the beauty of life’s song from our youth. Our choir teacher (and dad) in school, church, and beyond, Mr. Mark Nelson, who passionately served us all in the Annandale community so well for years and years. His impact is beyond measure and so incredibly profound.
Terri (Porter) Heimbigner, a beautiful sister, daughter, aunt and friend, also a former student of Mark’s, has also been hit with early onset. She served her country in the Air Force bravely and gives to everyone with such compassion and love. Her joyful spirit fills a room with light and contagious positive energy.
What a better way to add to the melody of their life’s song than by donating or joining us and riding on behalf of those pushing through the pain and making the best out of the worst? I can think of others in our community. Do you have someone you’d like to honor? Consider honoring them through a donation or join us!
Let’s show how our community can come together to support and lift each other up when we’re down and raise awareness for this important cause that impacts so many of us. If life’s a song and we are part of the melody, let’s make our impact as a community a masterpiece.
