Why I Ride:
I ride for all of those impacted by, and lost to, this devastating disease. I lost my dad, Gilbert Valerius, in September 2020 after a lengthy battle with ALZ. I ride to raise funds for research that will result in a better future for everyone impacted by Alzheimer's and the family and friends who support and care for them, including my mom Anna Mae Valerius who passed in July 2024 and was my dad's primary caregiver for years.
In addition to completing the 100KM ALZ ride, I have set a personal goal of riding 3,500 miles in 2024.
I am determined to go the distance for all those affected by Alzheimer’s. I am inspired by the strength of the more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, and the over 11 million family members and friends who provide them with care. I am also inspired by science.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ®, a fully-supported, premier cycling event that supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
