Why I Ride: My dad lost his battle with Alzheimer's August 2, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. I held his hand and sang to him until he took his last breath. My dad was a warrior up until the end. I miss him every day and am heartbroken I will never again hear his laugh, joke or stories. I ride for my dad, my mom, my siblings, my kids, my grandkids and my friends. I ride so one day there will be a cure, and no one will need to endure the pain of this horrible disease.
My dad was the smartest man I have ever known, He was a high school teacher and a football, wrestling and baseball coach. He instilled in me a love for football. I remember standing next to my dad on the football field, sitting next to the cheerleaders at the wrestling meets cheering on the wrestlers and mostly my dad. These memories are ones I hold close to my heart, and I find comfort in knowing he has regained these memories and is now my guardian angel. I hope he smiles once again with these memories. Most importantly, I hope I make him proud.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
