I'm back at it this year! Thank you for donating!
I ride in honor of my mom, Linda Baker. Once a nurse, caring for the elderly, now battles this terrible disease with grace and of course, uncertainty.
As we enter almost 8 years of mom living with this disease, we know that there is really no turning back. We can only hope we are doing the very best for her as we navigate through this horrible affliction. Alzheimer's has changed the way our whole family lives our lives, but we are lucky to have her at home.
For an update, Linda still lives at home with her husband Ted and me, her son, Andrew. Although she has lost the ability to speak, smile, laugh, and even cry, we know she still recognizes us and she still makes her needs known. Every once in a while, she may whisper one of our names and we know that she is still there. That's always a reason to cheer. She walks every day and attends an adult day care center twice a week. One day at a time!
This is for all those suffering and caregiving. For all of those watching a loved one or friend fade away. For all of those faced with this disease, I ride for you. Thank you again for donating.
Cheer Me On!
