Why I Ride: I am determined to go the distance for all those affected by Alzheimer's, 100 miles to be exact! Specifically, in memory of my dad, David L. O'Brien Jr. who we lost to Alzheimer's disease on September 22, 2022, and in thanks to my mom, Paulette O'Brien for her many years of loving care for him. In a few words, my dad was a family man who lived his life for his wife and 6 children. He was hard working, honest, unassuming and fiercely proud of his family. My mom, his wife of 54 years, is a beacon of strength and devotion who cared for him with love and grace. My ultimate goal is twofold, make my parents proud and bring awareness & funds to the great work of the Alzheimer's Association.
In addition to my dad, I ride in memory of his sister, my Aunt Alice, those living with this disease, and the family members and friends who provide them with care.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer's research - only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ®, a fully-supported, premier cycling event that supports the Alzheimer's Association's efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's disease.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer's. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
