I’ve joined again this year with good friends and riders to raise money for ALZ research and treatment to support the patients and their wider caregiving families who wrestle daily with this terrible disease. That daily challenge is more than I can imagine. And yet, there is hope.
In a recent WSJ article, 4/13/24 titled “The New, More-Hopeful Face of Alzheimer’s Disease”, the author details a list of factors and interventions which can manage symptoms better, improve quality of life factors, and help slow progress to add years of quality of life for families and patients. He describes “a new era of more effective and optimistic management….(with) early detections, important lifestyle changes, drug interventions, …has given patients permission to figure out ways to continue to live fuller lives.” He finishes the article saying “we are well ahead of just a few years ago. And science promises to give us further advances in the years ahead.”
So, this year, I am riding again with even more hope that what we can do makes a real difference, that these changes are real and improve lives that were cut short way too soon in the past. That milestone events in families might now be shared, and that hope for more time might be real.
Please join me in supporting this work, and helping those grasping for good news in this journey.
Cheer Me On!
