My ride for Alzheimer’s is going to be a little different this year. Instead of just a 1 day ride, it will cover 7 to 10 days. My plan is to ride the entire distance between Buffalo, NY and Albany, NY along the historic Erie Canal Bike Trail. It will be around 350 miles in total and I expect to start sometime in late April or early May. My ride will be completely self supported.
This will be my fourth Alzheimer’s ride and by far, my longest. I wanted to take on a formidable challenge this year and this felt right. As more and more people I know in my life become affected by this awful disease, I realized that I needed to do more. I must do more. It will be long, at times painful and perhaps even uncomfortable. But nothing like the pain and discomfort felt all over by families who are affected by a loved one with Alzheimer’s every day. If I can make one small shred of difference in this fight against Alzheimer’s by making this ride, every mile will be worth it.
I ride for my father in law, Spencer. I ride for my friend’s mother, Barbara. I ride for every family member, friend and complete stranger who has been affected by this terrible disease. Let’s find a cure. Let’s end Alzheimer’s! All size donations are fondly accepted. Thank you for your generosity.
Why I Ride: I am determined to go the distance for all those affected by Alzheimer’s. I am inspired by the strength of the more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, and the over 11 million family members and friends who provide them with care. I am also inspired by science.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ®, a fully-supported, premier cycling event that supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
