Why I Ride: This past December, our ride community lost our friend, Brian Igoe, to Alzheimer's Disease. Brian, or "Coach" as he was known, bravely waged a multi-year battle against the relentless onslaught of the disease - never once complaining of the fate he knew would befall him. To him, to the more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, and to the over 11 million family members and friends who provide them with care, I dedicate this ride. Allthough unable to attend the event this year, I will ride virtually in the first ever "Igoe Dash Team Time Trial". Named after The Dash Poem, by Linda Ellis, the poem speaks of the Dash that seperates your date of birth from your date of death, and what you do with the time in between. Please join me in making the effort to cure and assist those afflicted or effected by Alzhimer's part of your "dash" by making a contribution to my ride. For in the end, to quote a part of the poem...
"... it matters not how much we own,
The cars, the house the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend out dash."
Thanks for cheering me on in the IGOE DASH, and for making a contribution as part of your "dash".
Cheer Me On!
