I plan to participate in the Alzheimer's Association's Ride to End Alzheimer's New England in a few months. Assuming I am healthy and able, I intend to ride 35 miles on Saturday, June 1st to help all those affected by Alzheimer's and dementia, while raising funds and awareness to advance treatments and research toward the first survivor of this devastating disease.
Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, and over 11 million are acting as their caregivers. Many of us have family members, relatives, and friends who suffer from this disease.Like some of you, I have 2 good friends and 1 professional colleague, who have parents who are suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia. This is one of the reasons I wanted to participate in this fund raising event.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. But by supporting my Ride efforts, you can help change that. 90 percent of all funds raised from this event will go toward the Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's and all other dementias. Alzheimer’s touches all of us, and it will take all of us to end it.
I hope you will consider joining me in the fight to end Alzheimer's by donating today! Help me reach my personal fundraising goal of $1500and help the Alzheimer's Association fund critical research. Visit http://act.alz.org/goto/jonforman to support my fundraising efforts.
