My grandfather, Bill Haynes, was the best human I’ve ever known. He was a gentleman who raised his seven kids on the back of his family furniture business.
Papa, as his grandchildren called him, fought his battle with Alzheimer's for many years. I remember the days he'd forget where he parked his car in his cozy retirement town and just decide to stroll home. Imagine the shock on Gram's face when she realized she would have to retrace his steps! Thank goodness she found the car.
The greatest victory is that he never - not once - forgot who we were, his family. That's why I'm riding, to honor his legacy and memory. I hope to give many others the gift of never forgetting the ones they love.
More than 6 million Americans live with this disease, and there are over 11 million family members and friends who provide unpaid care for those they love and support.
Together we can help give the gift of remembering a life well lived to so many. Please consider donating towards my Ride to End Alz and join us in our fight to help make this disease nothing more than a distant memory!
Cheer Me On!
