Why I Ride:
On June 1 the rubber meets the road and I will #Ride2EndALZ.
As many of you know, my Dad passed away at the end of 2023. He showed definitive symptoms of dementia inthe last several years of his life and whenever I ride, I remember him and howhe taught me how to ride a bike many, many years ago. Not a day goes by without me having somememory of my Dad and me having fun riding our bikes or playing catch or any oneof the many activities we did together on warm summer evenings on the Cape andelsewhere.
My Dad was not alone in his fight. Anestimated 6 million people are living with Alzheimer's and there are anestimated 11 million care providers, who are usually family members, assistingthose afflicted. I draw my strength fromthese people and I am determined to go the distance to help all of thesepeople.
I set a lofty goal for myself to raise funds to assist with Alzheimer’sresearch through the Alzheimer's Association. The Ride to End ALZ™ is a fully supported, one-day cycling event toaccelerate scientific progress in the fight against Alzheimer's, the nation'ssixth-leading cause of death. Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer's research, the only shortage is thefunding of these ideas. Together, we canhelp overcome the shortage. Alldonations matter, regardless of size. You’d be astonished by the impact of a small donation multiplied by allthe people I know and you know could help. The fight can’t be won by me or you alone. But together we can make a tremendousdifference. Would you be able to helpmake this a reality?

The team I ride for is named, "Grampy and Nana's Riders." Grampy and Nana are my parents. I am joined on the ride this year by my son,my daughter, and a friend who all see how this disease is affecting not only myparents (their grandparents) but others as well. It would also really help if you could sharemy fundraiser link with everyone you know. The more eyes on my fundraiser, thebetter!
I appreciate all of your support! Iwouldn’t be able to do this without your help.
All the best to you and your family,
David
