My grandmother, Hattie Petrea, passed away from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease in 1990; my mom, Joan Kiser (Hattie’s daughter) in 2020. My dad, James Kiser, is living with Alzheimer’s in a skilled nursing setting in White Rock, SC.
Including these loved ones, I have many friends and relatives who've had to deal with the challenges of seeing family members decline from dementia. For me, my uncle George, my father-in-law Joe, and my friend Dierdre, taken in her 40s by early-onset Alzheimer’s.
For all of these folks, I’ll be cycling in the 2023 Ride to End ALZ South Carolina. Along with many other cyclists, I’ll be participating in this 255-mile journey July 14th-16th to raise funds for the research and support efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
I’m very excited to by riding in my second Ride to End ALZ! My goal is to raise at least $2550 ($10/mile).
Please think of the people in your life affected by Alzheimer’s, and those who may be in future.
Thank you for contributing and cheering me on!
