I will ride my road bike 253 miles July 14-16, 2017 from Simpsonville, SC to Charleston, SC to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's disease. By participating in A Ride to Remember, I'm taking on the enormous physical challenge and personal adventure of cycling across South Carolina. I've also committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.
My maternal grandmother and grandfather both were afflicted with Alzheimer's disease. I was very saddened to see both of these happy and active people who were an essential part of my life deteriorate as their lives crumbled into nothingness. They lost their memories and goals in life. Living became automated with ever increasing needs for assistance, medical care and even forced feeding to the point where my grandmother couldn't even recognize family members. I hope that we can make progress towards a cure so that we can remember our loved ones and especially family members as having lived a robust life and a smile on their faces right until their last light.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Now is the time to come together to change the course of this disease!
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease! Your support means the world to me on this memorable journey! Any contribution of any amount would be greatly appreciated! Please click on the link below to contribute!
