Why We Ride: In 2019, my dad passed away from ALS at 82 years of age. A few months prior to his passing my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. My dad's passing escalated the need for my mom to have full time care, and she moved into a full time memory care facility in 2020. I cannot be more grateful to her team and am amazed at their love and dedication to my mom and everyone in their care. In 2022, my sister, who is only 2 years older than me (I'm currently 58) was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and was forced to make very tough decisions as she was living overseas in Europe at the time. She immediately began testing, and secured great physicians in our home state of Tennessee, at the Vanderbilt University Memory & Alzheimer's Center, where she retired due to her diagnosis. The great news is my mom is in great physical health. My sister is living with her diagnosis and taking all of her doctor's recommendations and exercises with a walking / hiking group daily. The best word to describe my amazing sister Beth is "SurThrival .. Half surviving and Half Thriving ... but honestly more Thriving".
Please help me create awareness and raise money for the research and development in curing Alzheimer's Disease ... and I encourage all of you to eat well and exercise every day.
