“What did you do today to make the world a better place in which to live?”
This was my Grandpa B’s constant saying that I heard growing up. Even growing up states apart, my grandpa always showed up for me. From graduations and thanksgivings to coming out for sporting events, he would visit and show his love and support.
When Grandpa B was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and started showing symptoms, it felt like so much was being taken from him - his memories of the moments he spent giving to his friends and his family. I realize now his efforts were not in vain as I am the keeper of the memories I shared with him. But if I could help prevent those moments for someone else and prevent the struggles and pain that come with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, then I could in fact make the world a better place in which to live.
So, I ride to help find a cure. I ride so we don’t need to be the keeper of memories. I ride for my Grandpa B.
A few more details about Alzheimer’s and the ride:
I am inspired by the strength of the more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, and the over 11 million family members and friends who provide them with care. I am also inspired by science.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ, a fully-supported, one day fundraising event where every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.
Even if you cannot donate, I would really love and appreciate your support cheering me on!
Cheer Me On!
