Why I Ride: In 2017 my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The last 5+ years following his diagnosis were some of the hardest years of our lives. I watched as my mother and sister cared for him in his good days and bad days. I watched the strongest man I knew decline to a level he never would have wanted, while hoping for a breakthrough.
Through all the changes, I could still feel he was there... I could feel he loved us even when he couldn't say it, and even when he wasn't sure who we were.
On 2/7/23 my father lost his battle with Alzheimer's. My previous rides have been for me. This ride and my future rides will be for him.
I am determined to go the distance for all those affected by Alzheimer’s. On June 11th, 2023 I will be riding 60 miles in Fort Collins, CO in his memory.
There is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ, a fully-supported, one day fundraising event where every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
