Why I Ride:
As some of you may know, my grandfather (or as we lovingly know him, Papa Pete) was diagnosed in 2016 with Alzheimer’s. Papa Pete is currently 95 years young and has lived an incredible life, from serving our country as a WW2 vet to fulfilling his dream of becoming a pilot to skiing and playing tennis into his 90s -- his strong mind and active lifestyle have always been a source of inspiration and motivation for me. Even as he battles this all-consuming disease, his fighting spirit remains as present as ever. Despite Papa's unwavering positive attitude, the truth is that we have a long way to go in understanding the causes of Alzheimer's as well as potential treatments, preventions and early detections. Currently, the disease comes with no cure, ranks as the 7th leading cause of death in the United States and impacts over 6 million Americans – with that number expected to more than double in the next few decades.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Thank you for cheering me on.
Cheer Me On!
