DeAnn Wieber is fundraising for Alzheimer's Research

John Laufenberg loved to ride his bike. It was his freedom, a way to explore his world, the pathway to good health, and joy.  That was then. He now suffers, along with his twin sister Jean, from a horrible disease called Alzheimer's. There is no get-out-of-jail-free card for John and Jean. There is nothing they can do but look at photos of their lives and ask questions over and over about the memories that should be theirs. Every day is a new challenge and every day we just watch with sadness as they struggle to hold on.

No one should have to suffer from this disease but an estimated 6.5 million Americans age 65 and older do. This year I will ride again in the annual Ride to End ALZ in Colorado, a one-day fundraising event where every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover treatment and prevention methods for the disease.
