I have an update ..... The other day, I was out training for this ride and coming up the final hill to my house I pass by an old friend's house that I worked with 10 or so years ago. Kathy is an avid tri-athlete and one of those crazy people that get up at 5am to go for a run .... CRAZY. I saw her and her husband in their driveway as I was passing by so I pulled in as I hadn't talked with her in a few years. after initial pleasantries, I asked the simple question "So, how's it going?". She starts off by saying "Well I have some bad news" her eyes started to water up then she hit me with the news, Kathy was just diagnosed with Early onset ALZ ............. I could NOT believe my ears. After I caught my breath I told her why I was out riding to get ready for this ride to support my other great fried George (see above). She immediately gave me the biggest hug and thanked me for doing this. UGH, I haven't known anyone with this disease until 6 months ago, now I have two great friends that are battling it. I'm now doubly determined to finish the 100 mile ride for my two friends and the thousands of others that are in the same fight. Live EVERY day people, don't sweat the little things and hug the one's around you OFTEN ....
Cheer Me On!
