Greetings Loved Ones!
I will be riding 30 miles this year in order to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association in MEMORY of my father Larry Hardenbrook.
In addition, his sister Dottie Biros was diagnosed this year---as well as his mother, Vona Hardenbrook, over 10 years earlier.
My father disappeared on a cold and blustery night in January of 2020 from his home in Beaver City Nebraska. He was confused and left--thinking he had to get somewhere else It's a small town but somehow he got lost in a matter of minutes. Even with hundreds of generous people joining the search in the following days and weeks, we still have no idea where he is or what happened to him.
That's why I ride!
I hope some day there will be a cure. I hope no other family has to feel the pain of losing their Father or Grandfather or Uncle or Loved ONE. It was the most devastating experience of my life.
The truth of Alzheimer's is that it hits our communities hard! It will affect all of us eventually. It is incurable and all too common. It is certainly scary for the one suffering with a mind that just doesn't "work right"; but perhaps even more challenging for those loved ones who give up their own lives to help the vulnerable ones as they suffer with this incurable and progressive disease.
Money and research are the only hope of ending this terrible disease.
That's why I ride.....
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. We must come together to change the course of this disease.
All funds raised DIRECTLY benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
That's why I ride.
Much love!
Cheri Hardenbrook
