I share these thoughts in memory of my Grandfather, Cornelius J. Driscoll Jr. who we lost in 2005 to Alzheimer's Disease.
My Gramps called me toots…I still see him sitting in his armchair in blue pants and a plaid shirt with his glasses case and pens in his pocket. I still remember exactly what he smelled like when he bent down to hug me and can hear his gruff voice saying “heya toots”. Some of my favorite memories are playing with my cousins at his feet as we pulled every toy from his wooden chest he kept full for all of us. I remember going over at Christmas to throw tinsel all over his tree and eat all of the cinnamon and spearmint gumdrops off his gumdrop tree. I am so lucky to be able to hold onto these memories, and I like to think that these are the things he never forgot, even though he stopped calling me toots.
Gramps is my reason for volunteering for A Ride to End ALZ. Please help me in reaching my goal of $1000.00 by donating or sharing this post. Help me do it for my Gramps.
Love Toots.
