Hi-Ya Toots
Why We Ride: Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, and over 11 million are acting as their caregivers.
We are going the distance for all those affected while raising funds and awareness to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. But together, we can help change that. 100 percent of the funds raised from this event will go toward the Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's and other dementias.
Alzheimer’s touches all of us, and it will take all of us to end it. Please join our team or donate today.
Team Hi-Ya toots is riding to honor my wife, Linda, who 12 years ago as an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) of 40 years. a few years later she began having memory problems and in 2019 we moved to Colorado to be near our kids for help. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2019.
The name for Team Hi-Ya Toots comes from a childhood Christmas tradition of Linda's family. She was adopted, and as an only child on Christmas her mother (Meem) and father (JaJu) of Irish and Polish decent respectively invented a Christmas elf, Hi-Ya Toots, who would leave a gift of something strange but always useful for Linda to unwrap. We have kept that tradition alive for many years.
