I am participating in a Summer Fundraising event: Ride To End Alzheimer on behalf of Cleveland Clinic. I will be cycling 200miles during the month of August, in support for all those affected by Alzheimer’s.
There are over 6 million Americans living with this disease, and the over 11 million family members and friends who provide them with care. Alzheimer’s disease was officially listed as the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States in 2019 and the seventh-leading cause of death in2020 and 2021, when COVID-19 entered the ranks of the top 10 causes of death. By2050, the number of people age 65 and older with Alzheimer's dementia is projected to reach 12.7 million.
I am riding for my grandfather, that lost his battle with this disease. He was a WWII veteran, a loving great grandfather and phenomenal individual. I was fortunate to be able to, with the help of my family, help care for my grandfather during his last few years.
I am also inspired by science. Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support.
Please consider supporting me in this fight against Alzheimer’s.
