Why I Ride: I ride for the many many people affected my Alzheimer's and other dementias...including those who have been diagnosed...AND their families and care givers.
The Alzheimer's Association was immensely helpful when my own mom was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia almost 4 years ago. I had never even heard of it at the time. The ALZ Association was there in step with us as we navigated the many things we didn't even know we needed to be thinking about. I truly don't know where we'd be in this process, were it not for the many folks with ALZ Association that stepped up to support me...all at no cost.
To say this ride is personal for me is an understatement. Each of the members of our Tandem team have had a loved one with either Alzheimer's or some form of dementia. We ride to honor the ones we've lost, the ones still with us, and all of amazing research that the ALZ Association supports.
Please consider joining us to ride or donating to our fundraising efforts! And if you have a loved one I can ride miles for on the ride, please let me know! Last year I rode for several family members of my friends...taking picture along the beautiful ride that represented the miles for their loved ones! I'd be happy to do the same for you whether you donate or not. :)
