I am riding for my Mom, Nancy, who passed away from Alzheimer's type dementia in 2010. Although she has been gone for 12 years, I can still feel the pain as if it were yesterday. She was my best friend and my biggest supporter.
As I ride for my Mom, I also ride for ALL of those who are or have been affected by any form of dementia. I am inspired by their strength along with the strength of more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, and the over 11 million family members and friends who selfishly and lovingly provide them with care.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer's research - but there is a shortage in dollars to fund that research. This is why I am asking for your support. I am participating in the Ride to End Alz, a fully supported, one day fundraising event where every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer's Association's efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's disease.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer's. Thank you for cheering me on.
