On Saturday, June 4, I'm participating in the Ride to End Alzheimer's - a 30-mile bike ride and fundraiser in Hampton Beach, NH.
Why I Ride: I am riding in honor of my mother, Jennifer Johanson, who struggled with early-onset Alzheimer's disease for nearly ten years. I am also riding for all of those who cared for her during that time. I am inspired by my mom's strength and her ability to hold on to her sense of humor even in midst of a really miserable situation.
More than 6 million Americans live with this disease, and over 11 million family members and friends provide care for them. That's a lot of people and I know firsthand that its a really, really difficult thing to do.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. Every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for cheering me on!
