Why I Ride: As many of You know, both my mom and dad have Alzheimer's, and they are declining really quickly. They no longer recognize my brother or me or their grandchildren - who were their pride and joy. It's heartbreaking and there's absolutely nothing I can do. Except this- raise money for research and development of a cure or means of prevention.
I am inspired by the strength of the more than 5 million Americans living with this disease, and the 16 million family members and friends who provide them with care. I am also inspired by science.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer's research -- only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ, a one day fundraising event where every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer's Association's efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's disease.
I have committed to raising $1500. That's $300 for each of the five of my immediate family members who either have Alzheimer's now or have died from it. I've started off my campaign with a personal donation of $112. I would be so appreciative of any amount that you might be able to donate. Maybe you can match me or even beat my donation!
Thank you for cheering me on.
