Why I Ride: In May 2019 my mother Naomi Shulman was diagnosed with Alzheimers. Then, in Febraury 2020 my father Gerald Shulman passed leaving my Mom without her partner of 60 years. The day following his funeral my Mom moved to a memory care unit in a beautiful assisted living community in Florida. But as you might know Alzheimer's for her is here to stay. It is tragically heartbreaking to watch someone's memory fade, to be unable to share tender moments of the past and the present. My mom had such a wide effect on so many lives as a teacher, a summer camp head counselor, a social worker, a painting instructor, and a grandmother. And now all of those memories are no longer with her. Making it more difficult to bear is the physical separation due to COVID. It gives me joy to be able, in some small part, to contribute to the efforts being made to conduct research to find treatments and a cure for this terrible disease. I ride because I can and because life is meant to be enjoyed at the present moment without worry about past or future. So please help me raise money, on behalf of my whole family, in support of my 75 mile endeavor on October 11th 2020, the date my Dad would have turned 90.
Thank you for your support
