Today I Ride: Good morning friends & family. I cannot express how thankful I am to all of you for your support. In 4 days you helped raise almost $1,400.
The bigger picture though is this virtual event today has helped raise $150k toward treatment & prevention.
I know my Dad would be touched with this generosity. I've been trying to think what he would say. Probably something like... (in his humble sweet way):
"For me? For this? Wow. Thank you 'Daughter'. I don't know what to say."
Then he'd probably ask if he gets to keep any of the money for himself Ha Ha Ha. Cheeky fella.
For those of you who are interested... I'll be leaving at 10:30EST and riding 25 miles west to London, Ohio.
Thank you thank you thank you.
Why I Ride:
My Dad: my mentor, my hero.
Here's the bottom line. My Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimers 6 years ago. It's so difficult because he is right in front of me to hug but it's not him anymore... he is lost in this disease. He doesn't know who I am. This disease truly is "a long goodbye".
Today, I stumbled on this virtual cycling event "Ride to End Alzheimers"... happening THIS Sunday. Yep - 4 days from now.
I'm going to do it, I'm going to ride 25 miles for my Dad. Anything to help raise awareness and funds to accelerate the science toward treatment and prevention of this terrible disease.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support.
100% of every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
With each mile I ride, I am raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.
With each mile I ride, I'll be remembering my amazing father and and my amazing memories we have shared.
Thank you for your support and for cheering me on.
