First Skateboarder to Ever participate in the Annual Ride to End Alzheimer's??? What a Bodacious Blessing!!!
My name is Cody Kohlhagen and my story is about as simple as 1 + 1 = 25?!? The year was 1989 when I felt my First Passion: holding on tightly to a wind-surfboard, Thanks Dad! Now, whether it be hopping on a skateboard or strapping into a snowboard, it simply means I cannot be bored. The year was 2008 when I discovered my First Calling: providing care for the elderly, Thank You Jesus! So now, whether it is hugging a senior or sharing a smile with someone who has Dementia, it simply means a mutual-blessing for us both. For those reasons, my #1 passion of skateboarding plus my #1 profession of care-providing will soon equal 25 miles?!?
I will ride and push, (regular, not mongo or goofy; well maybe a little bit since it is a far distance), a total of 25 miles on my long-board skateboard in the Ride to End ALZ event on June 14th, 2020. I choose to ride in this fundraiser to represent the residents I have cared for, currently care for, and will continue to care for. Not only do people with Alzheimer's deserve our best efforts now, but the Alzheimer's Association needs your contribution to help find a cure!
My residents know that I skate, and, they know that I will be skating for them! I hope that participating on a skateboard might bring some alternate awareness and potentially a few far-out donations, if only by a fearless few.
