I will be raising funds for the Alzheimer's Association in memory of my stepfather Charles. The Alzheimer's Association was a huge help to my family and this is my way of giving back.

My friend Lisa and I are co-hosting a Scrabble group on Sunday July 21 at Ava's Coffee House in Beaverton, Oregon from 2:30-6:30 p.m. (There are several locations of Ava's. We will be playing at the the Ava's on 4655 SW Hall Blvd in Beaverton). Lisa will be playing in memory of her aunt.

The Longest Day is the day of the year with the most light — the summer solstice. And it's the day I have committed to fight Alzheimer's disease! I’m participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Our team will do an abbreviated version of this fundraiser for the shortest day - the winter solstice. (Note: Lisa and I are doing a delayed Longest Day event since we were both traveling in June.)

Today, an estimated 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, including more than 5 million Americans. In the United States alone, 16 million friends and family members are providing their care. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.

Stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s and make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you!
