Our Team Story
I'm participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. If you didn't know, before my mom passed away from Alzheimer's in 2012, she was quite the artist. Unfortunately, she lost her talents early as the disease impacted her vision. In honor of her memory I thought I'd get out my paints and brushes and see what trouble I can get myself into!
I will spend the daylight hours of June 20th watercoloring in downtown Dayton. Weather depending, I'll be out on the sidewalks sketching and painting away, and if not I'll work from photographs at home. I am absolutely accepting donations, and will send a 4x6 copy of your choosing as a thank you (to include last year's watercolors)! Check back on Facebook and Instagram throughout the day to see my successes and likely some failures.
Today, an estimated 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, including more than 5 million Americans. In the United States alone, 16 million friends and family members are providing their care. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.
Stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer's and make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you!
