My precious bride of 31 years, Jan, was suddenly stricken with Alzheimer's Disease in 2020. While many were trying to figure out how to work through the Covid pandemic, we were working our way through our own crisis of how Alzheimer's Disease was changing our lives.

Last year I raised over $2,500.00 to help fight this disease. This year I have a goal of raising $10,000.00 to help find a cure and treatment options to combat this wretched disease. I desire to reach that goal by June 21, "The Longest Day". I will be training for and racing in triathlons this year to help me reach that goal. My first event will be a sprint triathlon on April 24, 2022 at Lake Murray, SC. I will swim 750 yards, bike 16 miles and run 5 kilometers. This equals a total of 19.5 miles, which should take me about 2 hours and 10 minutes. Would you consider donating $10 for every mile I race that day? That would be a donation of $195.00. The Longest Day is the day of the year with the most light — the summer solstice. And it's the day I have committed to fight Alzheimer's disease! I’m participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.

Today, an estimated 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, including more than 6 million Americans. In the United States alone, more than 11 million friends and family members are providing their care. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.
