My grandma was the glue of the family: she knew every birthday, every anniversary, every after-school activity, and hosted every family gathering. She loved word and math games, like Scrabble and Yahtzee.  She was resourceful and creative: one of her favorite phrases was, "you could make that for a little bit of nothin'," (I proved her wrong on that one when she tried to teach me to sew...).  She always went the extra mile to make a person feel special: when a family member brought an unexpected guest to Christmas dinner, I helped her swap tags and re-wrap presents so everyone had a gift to open.  When her memory started to fail, it changed my world.

I have joined the Alzheimer's Association's The Longest Day campaign in memory of my grandmother, Evelyn.  This is my 7th year participating in the TLD fundraiser.  This year (2025) also marks 10 years since my grandma passed, and so I am changing things up.  In the past, I have not really mentioned my involvement with the Alzheimer's Association except to close friends and family, but this year I decided to put links to this campaign out in the universe through some of my favorite activities.  If you found your way to this page through one of my random little notes, thanks for visiting!  I'd love to know how you got here, so if you feel inclined to give a gift, leave a note in the comment box!

My goal this year is to raise $2,000 by The Longest Day (June 20, 2025).  If Alzheimer's or dementia has impacted your life, please consider helping me reach this goal, and helping the Alzheimer's Association reach their goal of a world without Alzheimer's.
