My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2008. She was able to live alone for a few years in the early phases of the disease, but she required 24-hour care for over 7 years. She was very fortunate that she had a loving family willing to invest time and funds to take care of her and keep her in her own home as long as possible. She moved to a care facility in September of 2017 and passed away on November 7, 2017.  It was an amazing (and sometimes very difficult) journey for all of us.

I'm excited that we'll have a custom puzzle this year made especially for this event. The puzzle is called "You Are the Light" and it has beautiful vignettes that express my mom's love of needlework and symbols of light and hope. It features the artwork of my friend, Lynn Smaagaard and the project was made possible through the generosity of Tony and Candace Nelson of PuzzleTwist. Thanks to everyone involved who helped make this dream become a reality. The puzzle will be available on June 22nd at the event for a donation to the Alzheimer's Association. It will also be available after the event by contacting me directly at lesliemallery@gmail.com. 

This will be the 8th Annual Puzzle Palooza for the Longest Day to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Please support the cause and make a donation on this page. Or consider the option making a pledge of a penny per piece or one dollar (or more or less) per puzzle. Last year we completed 71 puzzles totaling 23,193 pieces. We had a couple of $71 donations for completed puzzles and one donation of $231.93 for the penny per piece pledge.
