I’ve joined the fight to end Alzheimer’s! I’m participating in The Longest Day to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. My story starts with my grandmother, Ruth Craigen. Grammy is and will forever be my favorite co-chef, friend, and mentor. One of my favorite memories with her was when I would go over her house for a sleepover and always be so excited to cook eggs with her in the morning, to the point of not being able to sleep at night. Then when I finally got to the AM I would pull out the stepping stool and cook eggs just to not eat them and throw them away. She knew I wouldn’t eat them but let me do it anyways because she knew it made me happy. Those little things are grammys thing, looking out for others and doing everything in her power to make people happy even if it’s a burden to do it. I remember when we made a chocolate cake together and put gummy bears and sprinkles on it, believe it or not I’m still trying to burn those calories from that very cake. I’m not just running for Alzheimer’s, I’m running to push myself to prove to her that I see her, no matter the burden or pain it’s worth it because it makes her happy. I will be running a mile, every hour of the day, for every hour of daylight on July 28th, to prove just that. donations go straight towards fighting Alzheimer’s and never letting it come back to anyone including Grammy. Don’t worry if you cannot support through money, all I ask is that your kind to someone just as Grammy was to me and everyone else around her. All donations, small and big, emotional or spiritual, or anything you can think of are beyond appreciated. If you made it this far truly from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Do it for Grammy.
