My Story
My involvement with Alzheimer's The Longest Day is to honor the memory of my late husband Tony and to raise awareness for the devastation it causes on the lives and families of those diagnosed. Hopefully through awareness funds are raised for research and eventually a cure.
Tony was diagnosed with this horrible disease at age 57 and struggled with it until it took him at age 63. He was young, I always associated Alzheimer's with the elderly and the biggest majority of the almost 6 MILLION people living with Alzheimer's in the USA are older than 65. However, there are around 250,000 Americans diagnosed and living with early onset Alz. Early onset is when diagnosed before age 60.
One last Alzheimer's fact. Alzheimer's was discovered in 1906. YES 1906, that is 116 years ago. There is still no cure or even a treatment for this disease. Scientist still are not even sure what causes it!!! We need awareness and money for research.
Pickleball Against Alzheimer's in MS is an event to raise money for the cause! Thanks for your support.
