My Story
My wonderful sister-in-law, Margaret Vandenburg, and I will again be hosting a book discussion, this time focusing on this 2017 novel.
On Tuesday, June 18th, at 5:30 pm PDT, we will be on Zoom for this event. Margaret is a former professor at Barnard College, as well as a novelist, playwright and librettist.
I hope you can join us! You need not have read the book, and as I know many of you have already donated to Nancy's event or our walk team, no donation is required (although much appreciated!).
I got my first real insight into Alzheimer’s disease over 20 years ago, when Nancy was introduced to the Alzheimer’s Association by a business colleague. I saw it as a social problem, potentially costing billions in expenses to take care of those affected.
In 2008, this came much closer to home when my brother-in-law, Ernest Romero, was diagnosed with younger onset Alzheimer’s. After a long and painful journey, he died in 2018 at age 70.
